What's Happening This Week

This Saturday from 3-6pm, Rain or Shine, A Concert and Exhibit Celebration for “I Got My Pride” – The Blues Tales of Leadbelly, 6th Annual African-American Composers Series!

Join us this weekend as we celebrate the 6th Annual African-American Composers Series Exhibition and Music Education Program with a free concert and opening reception for “I Got My Pride” – The Blues Tales of Leadbelly, rain or shine, from 3-6pm.

We are very excited to share the latest installment of this exhibition series with all of you. It’s the most well-attended exhibit at the Center each year, and always a fun reunion with you, our friends. Can’t wait to see you and get down to some down-home blues with Louisiana Bluesman Gregg Wright and special guests with a concert put together by the Center’s very own drum teacher and house musician, Marcus L. Miller, and inspired by the legacy of folk and blues pioneer Leadbelly. In the case of rain, the concert will be held indoors at the Center in the main rotunda.

If you can’t make it to the opening concert this Saturday, please note that the exhibit will remain open through June 7 during our regular gallery hours, Tuesday through Saturday (12Noon-5pm).
