Thanks to all who came out to the opening of Return of the Mecca: The Art of Islam and Hip-Hop. Photos will be posted soon to our Flickr. In the meantime, some good news: there is still some class availability for Fall, especially for our teen classes – in BlackBook, Poetry and Lyricism, Beatmaking, and Drums – contact Keisa Davis for details at 323-734-1165 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And, we’re excited to announce that we are hosting a surprise special event coming up this Saturday 10/11 at The William Grant Still Arts Center.
Groundings: Dialogue with Rosa Clemente and Chuck D

Dialogue will start promptly at 2:00pm. Please note the the dialogue was initially scheduled to conclude at 4:00pm in some announcements – we apologize for the change.
Come take part in a session discussing hip-hop’s role – both past and present – in struggles for social justice with guests Rosa Clemente and Chuck D, moderated by The Return of the Mecca: The Art of Islam and Hip-Hop curator Sohail Daulatzai.
For those who didn’t make it – and those who wish to come back – the exhibition will be open to view before and after the dialogue, during the Center’s usual hours Tuesday-Saturday from 12Noon-5 p.m., through November 22.
