It’s been a great run and one of The William Grant Still Arts Center’s most attended exhibitions in the past few years! We’ve been honored that it has been the subject of many news articles and even more community discussion. But the last day to see Return of the Mecca: The Art of Islam and Hip-Hop is….
Saturday, November 22 — that is right, that is….TOMORROW!
So, if you haven’t had a chance to come by in the past two months, come tomorrow to help us close out this LA / Islam Arts Initiative exhibit.
To conclude, we’ll have a special event taking place during gallery hours from 3-4:30pm. None other than our local heroes and good friends to our Center, Self Scientific – DJ Khalil and Chace Infinite – will be here in conversation with curator Sohail Daulatzai from 3-4:30pm. If you can’t make it at that time, please note that the galleries will also be open our usual hours from 12:00-5:00pm.
And even if you have been to the show a few times, this is still a not-to-be-missed gathering to celebrate and review the topics, past and present, covered in this unprecedented show. Some record selections for your listening pleasure by DJ Kaleem, too.
Please pardon the late announcement, this was just confirmed today! See the flyer below for details
Exhibition catalogues will be for sale by the curator on site on this day.
