Thursday, February 2, 6:30pm – BlackBrown Unity: Uncovering & Celebrating Hidden Histories & Potential

In a time when collaboration and solidarity are most vital, legendary professor and photographer Ron Wilkins will speak on the long-existing, mutually-beneficial Black Brown relationships.

Ron Wilkins’ experience ranges from being a member of the “OG” Slausons to serving as a Western Regional Chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in the 1960s. He was Deputy Chair of the Patrice Lumumba Coalition and started, produced and hosted “Continent to Continent: An African Issues Magazine” on Pacifica Radio. As a professor, Wilkins has taught Africana Studies and History at California State University, Dominguez Hills and West Los Angeles College. Wilkins also has an active career as a photographer, traveling throughout Africa and Mexico.
